About Jaco

6:8 Ministries is thrilled to announce the launch of a new mission experience in Jaco, Costa Rica, where participants are invited to “surf and serve” in a setting that blends rest with purpose. This unique opportunity opens the door for individuals, church groups, and ministry teams to bring the message of Jesus to a community in need—while also taking time to recharge in God’s creation.

The Jaco initiative reflects the ministry’s vision to provide a peaceful retreat in the midst of mission work. Whether it’s swaying in a beach hammock or joining world-renowned fishing charters, visitors can enjoy a slower pace while engaging in relational and impactful ministry.

Jaco & 6:8 Ministries

Currently, 6:8 Ministries is laying the groundwork for a community feeding center, targeting the needs of Jaco’s homeless and migrant worker population. Plans are also underway for an ESL (English as a Second Language) program and a children’s ministry, both aimed at fostering opportunity and building strong family connections within the community.

“Our goal is to create a place where Sabbath and servitude can co-exist,” said Spencer, President and Founder of 6:8 Ministries. “We want this space to be a refuge not only for the local people we serve but also for pastors, veterans, and first responders who pour themselves out every day. It’s a space for healing and hope.”

The Impact

Jaco serves as a sanctuary for those who serve—offering restorative stays for pastors, veterans, and first responders through partnerships with local foundations and law enforcement agencies from Jacksonville and beyond.
